Photo Album - Schools

Fukue JHS.

This is my biggest school.  I am giving my introduction speech in Japanese to hundreds of students.  I am bricking it!  If I ever wonder why I am here doing this job, I just look at this photo.  Check out their faces.

Outoh JHS.

This school has an excellent atmosphere.  All of the students are really friendly.  They put on an excellent culture festival, where they parodied the film 'Waterboys' and there's a girl here who plays the Shamisen like Jimi Hendrix.

Sakiyama JHS

The kids here are really into singing.  It also has the best view of the island, with the sea on one side and the volcano on the other.

Okuura JHS

I started a fire at this school.  Fortunately it was in a social sciences lesson where we were learning how to make fire.  Very genki students.

Hisaka and Warabi JHS

Weird, since we have two schools on the same Island, even though they are both tiny (18 students combined).  The English teacher at Hisaka plays the guitar really well.

Kabashima JHS

A very friendly school with only 9 students and a very cute English teacher.  I get to ride the boat there.  Like Oushima below, the teachers have it rough living on a tiny Island without much to do during the week.

Oushima JHS

Do you like the Charlies Angel's pose?  This school is great, but the teachers seem very bored.  There is only one (Yes, 1) student.  I like to explore the Island when I'm done teaching, but that only take about an hour.  There are about 50 people on the Island, including this guy on the left.

Elementary Schools

Below are pictures of my elementary schools students.  They all rock and are incredibly cute.  They have an infinite number of questions for me (what's your blood type...?) and they all send me letters after I've visited them.  Once they had a fight over who got to play with me at Lunchtime.

From right to left we have Togi Shogakko, Midori Shogakko and Fukue Shogakko.

This is Oohama Sho (left).  I am the first ALT to visit them.

This is Sakiyama Sho (right).  Click on the pictures to see larger copies.
